These prices are effective as of August 18, 2026. Prices are subject to change without notice.

The goods and services shown below are those we can provide to our customers. You may choose only the items you desire. However, any funeral arrangements you select will include a charge for our basic services and overhead. If legal or other requirements mean you must buy any items you did not specifically ask for, we will explain the reason in writing on the statement we provide describing the funeral goods and services you selected. Certain funeral services may be provided off-premises by other funeral service providers.

State and local laws do not require a casket for direct cremation. If you want to arrange a direct cremation, you can use an alternative container. Alternative containers encase the body and can be made of materials like fiberboard or composition materials (with or without an outside covering). The containers we provide are cardboard containers.

Cremation Services

Basic Services of Funeral Director and Staff and Overhead
This fee for our basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangements you select. This fee is already included in our charges for direct cremations, immediate burials, and forwarding or receiving remains. This fee is non-declinable. Our basic service charge includes but is not limited to the arrangement conference, coordinating service plans with cemetery, church, hospital, or other institution, 24 hr. availability, preparation and filing of necessary permits and certificates relevant to the funeral process, placement of death notices and obituaries, bookkeeping, accounting and other administrative expenses, and overhead expenses relative to our facility such as wages, insurance, facility maintenance, equipment costs, utilities, and government compliance.

Priority handling of the cremation process ahead of our standard cremation cases. We make every effort to expedite the process, but cannot guarantee the timeframe for completion; the Medical Examiner may place a cremation on hold, and timing of physician completion of the death certificate cannot be guaranteed.

To ensure the safe and dignified handling of your loved one, additional staff are required, and a reinforced wooden cremation container is used in place of a standard cardboard container. The cremation process also requires an additional 2–3 hours to complete.

Embalming
Embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial. Required for services with an open casket, per Carewell Cremations policy.

Unwitnessed Sea Scattering
The Carewell team will charter a boat and travel at least 3 nautical miles offshore into the Atlantic Ocean, where your loved one’s cremated remains will be respectfully scattered at sea. Following the scattering, Carewell will complete and register the required documentation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in accordance with federal requirements.

We will gather and submit the required documents and coordinate directly with Arlington National Cemetery to schedule the burial service. This fee also includes getting a flag and folding it in your loved one’s honor (if they are the veteran). This will be given to you with the urn and is to be brought to Arlington the day of the service.
